Is there any difference between a Google+ account and an old Gmail-account with G+ added later?

Google caused a lot of panic because people using G+ actively already knew that it would stop in 2019 and people not actively using G+ don't bother.

But if their G+ account is deleted (as stated) they may loose everything, while people with a Gmail-account just loose their additional facilities on G+ only (but that can be a lot also).

Besides: they already can switch-off their G+ profile in their account settings themselves now.

So what about the formal differences between the real G+ accounts and the upgraded Gmail-accounts???

Truth is, if you've used G+, you probably already know all this stuff. If you haven't used G+, then you've got nothing to lose when it shuts down.

Hello Rinus, there are no differences, all Google accounts are the same and give you access to all Google services including G+, Gmail and Photos.

The G+ shutdown is not going to affect anyone differently, all (personal) Google accounts will just lose access to G+ while retaining access to all other Google services including Google Photos.

Hello Rinus, it is true that there are Google accounts without G+ profiles and there are Google accounts with a non-gmail address, but there are no Google accounts that are only G+ accounts, any Google account that has a G+ profile is actually a full Google account, even those newer accounts that you're referring to which had a G+ profile auto created for them, those are still full Google accounts and when the G+ profile is deleted, they will retain access to all other Google services.
